Kyrie's full name is Zion's London Twin of Sparta. When I heard that she would likely turn out to look just like her famous movie dog ancestor, London, The Littlest Hobo, I kept logging onto her breeder's site to see if she had found a home yet! Zak finally got her for me as an engagement present (proving that he is a man of excellent taste). ;) You can see an old promotional poster of the original London below.
Kyrie is on the smaller side for a Shiloh, 27" at the shoulder and 80 pounds. She was born in 2008 and will soon be ten years old! Kyrie has the unusual "reverse mask" facial markings that come down from the Malamute outcross line (which is also the line carrying the Littlest Hobo dogs). She is my rock-solid girl, not an in-your-face friendly dog but just a lovely, stable temperament. Veterinarians fall in love with her because she is so sweet and will stand patiently for pretty much everything!
Kyrie really shines in her intelligence. She is an incredibly easy-to-teach girl who typically absorbs a new command within three tries. She is always listening to us, trying to fathom these crazy humans, and she picks up new words even when we're not trying to teach them to her! Kyrie was trained in obedience and rally, and we do some trick-training with her for fun. She is a huge food hound and will do just about anything for a treat!
Kyrie has a strong herding and prey drive, but despite this, she and our cat get along perfectly. In fact, they will sometimes play with each other, which is hilarious to watch. Kyrie will chase the cat...but then the cat will turn around and chase Kyrie! They will bat at each other with paws (gently) and sometimes the cat will even jump up and fake-bite at her neck fur! When Kyrie's first puppies were born, I will never forget that the first night, Panther (the cat) quietly crept back into the whelping area and sat at the door of the whelping box to watch Kyrie with her pups.
Kyrie had two litters of pups; the Kyrie/Leos in 2011 and the Kyrie/Pistons in 2012. She now has many grandpuppies all over the USA, and one is even going to Europe soon! We are so proud of Kyrie's kids and grandkids, and we love to see pictures of them and hear stories of their adventures with their new families.
You can see a lot more photos of Kyrie when she was younger on her old blog, here.
